For hurumanu 1 this week my group have been learning about Edmund Hillary. For the people who don't know much about him, is was born in New Zealand and was one of the first two to get the to top of Mount Everest. He climbed with Tenzing Norgay who was born in Khumbu. Edmund Hillary has his face on the 5 dollar bill in New Zealand.
My group all did their own word cloud, so here's mine!
Last term we had been reading a class novel, the book we read was called holes. The book was written by Louis Sachar back in 1998.
The book was about a boy called Stanley, after he was taken to court he went to camp green lake. After meeting the other boys they got to work digging holes. After his friend ran away Stanley went after him.
In the book, my favorite character is Hector, also called Zero by the other boys. I don’t really know why, he just is.
I really enjoyed this book. It was fun to read with the class and I think it does a good job to keep the book interesting.
After reading the book, we got to watch the movie made after the book. Although not everything was the same from the book and movie. For one, in the book, Stanley was fat but lost a lot of weight in camp green lake. But it doesn't mean that in some parts the movie was just like the book. It was very similar when someone got Mr Sir’s bag of sunflower seeds, and when they passed it to Stanley the bag slipped and sunflower seeds went all over the place. Not too long after, Mr Sir got slapped with the Warden's rattlesnake nail polish. Both were the same in the movie and book.
The movie was very fun because I gotta sit back and watch the movie without having to read.
After all, I think the book was very fun and interesting, my teacher also asked ‘would you recommend the book’ but I don’t recommend most books I’ve read so I don't know...

Term 2 Reflection
One of my highlights for the second term was art, it was one of my favourite subjects because I like to do art out of school time. Also because I won the art competitions my teacher had.
I did find a lot of things challenging for me, such as the kete we had, I couldn’t think of ideas and after that, making the house for the kete was hard, things kept falling apart. But I still managed to complete it.
Another challenging thing is that I didn’t finish some of my work because I would keep saying I’ll do it tomorrow, yea I’m a procrastinator, I’m lazy. But this term I really want to do my best to complete ALL of my work.
Some of my subjects last term were Art, P.E, Drama and coding. I didn’t learn much in art because I already knew about the stuff she was teaching, P.E was hard because I’m a lazy person but it was still fun. Drama is something I really enjoyed and learnt tips on acting, but I didn’t think I did much, I was too scared to perform in front of others. And last is coding, I learnt a ton on coding, how to use scratch and cospace.
Shapes!
Hello and welcome to my blog! Today I would like to share with you the work I have completed in my hurumanu called shaping up.First we learnt about vertices, faces and edges. We also learnt what rotation, reflection, translation and enlargement mean and how we can do them.
Say we are looking at a cube, The face of a shape is a flat surface on a shape. This cube has 6 faces. The edge of a shape is like a line where 2 faces come together. Vertices are where the edges connect.
Most recently we learnt about rotation, reflection, translation and enlargement. When a thing's direction is changed. Reflection is when the original shape looks like it’s gone through a mirror. Translation is when the shape has been moved, although the appearance doesn't change. Enlargement is an easy one, it’s when the shape has been largered. It just becomes bigger…

Hello and welcome to my blog today! I'll be talking about all the things we have done during my term of art!
At the start of the term we were learning about stop motion. First stop motion we made in art was a flipbook. I can't remember what I did, and I don't have a video of it but I believe it was of a ball going up and down, up and down.
The next thing we did was messing around with clay, We got a hour to work on making a monster clay thing. Here's a photo of what I made.
The next and LAST thing we did in art ( beside this blog ) was a stop motion out of clay. This part was the best! I made 3 stop motions... Maybe 2 out of 3 included clay deaths but that okay... Maybe... Hopefully that is OK. Anyways here they are.
