Red Cabbage Indicator

 Aim:

I want to find out how to tell if something is an acid.

Method:

Equipment

  • Beaker
  • Red Cabbage
  • Hot water
  • Test tubes ( Test rube rack )
  • Acid + hydroxide
  • Dropper
Instructions
  1. Get your equipment
  2. Rip the red cabbage into little bits 
  3. Place your ripped red cabbage bits in the beaker
  4. Pour 100 ml hot water into the beaker
  5. Slowly pour the acid into the one out of the bigger test tubes
  6. In the other big test tube, pour hydroxide into it
  7. Add the red cabbage water into the two big test tubes ( Use a dropper )
  8. Mix ( with the dropper ) both the acid and hydroxide into little test tubes and try to make different colors.
Results
I made red, green, blue and purple by mixing the acid and hydroxide.
I also made a tube have orange, blue, green and purple.
